Kassel University President Welcomes Statements on University Funding

"For the University of Kassel, we expressly welcome the fact that Minister of State Rhein and the coalition show reliability in university funding and implement what was announced in the coalition agreement. Particularly important is the increase in the university budget above inflation compensation. It is also gratifying to see that key components of higher education funding in Hesse will be retained in the form of the QSL funds, the LOEWE program and the HEUREKA construction program; the full co-financing of the Higher Education Pact 2020 also creates planning security and is particularly positive. This should be acknowledged, especially in view of the debt brake.

This reliability in higher education funding is necessary in order to continue to develop research and teaching at an ambitious level in the future in view of persistently high student numbers, as we are experiencing in Kassel, for example. We are confident that the construction program that the University of Kassel has agreed with the state of Hesse will now also be realized quickly."
