Lecture series "Experimental Schools in Kassel

The public lecture series "School development in dialog between science and practice - more than 30 years of experimental schools in Kassel" provides insights into the design of school change processes. Exemplary are two Kassel schools that cooperate with the Institute of Educational Science at the University of Kassel. The first lecture (Oct. 30), "Reform School Kassel on Film: 'The Other Learning'," will feature Elke Hilliger (Reform School Kassel) and Prof. Dr. Natalie Fischer and Prof. Dr. Barbara Koch (University of Kassel) as speakers. The lecture always takes place on Tuesdays, 6-8 p.m., in the Campus Center, Lecture Hall 5.

Social change processes such as migration or inclusion require developments at the various levels of the education system. The Reformschule Kassel and the Offene Schule Waldau have been facing these challenges in a special way for over 30 years. As experimental schools of the state of Hesse, they have the task of developing, testing and evaluating innovative forms of learning and teaching. In this context, the schools have been cooperating closely with the Institute for Educational Science at the University of Kassel for almost ten years. This ongoing close dialogue between science and practice is being continued on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the Reform School Kassel in the current winter semester as part of a lecture series at the University of Kassel.

Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Natalie Fischer (Department of Educational Science with a focus on social relations in schools), Prof. Dr. Barbara Koch (Department of School Education with a focus on school and classroom development), Elke Hilliger (Headmistress of Reformschule Kassel) and Gerhard Vater (Headmistress of Offene Schule Waldau), innovative approaches from the schools will be reported on and scientifically classified.

In each lecture, teachers and parent representatives from the pilot schools will contribute a paper on a practice-relevant issue, which will be supplemented by a presentation on the topic by an expert from academia. In this way, a stimulating discussion about current innovations in school pedagogy and their possible implementation in schools is to be created for all participants and students. The goal is to provide insights into the design of school change processes based on selected topics.

The public lectures always take place on Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m. in Lecture Hall 5 (Room 1101) in the Campus Center, Moritzstr. 18. Admission is free.
