University of Kassel invites to Blockchain Night on 15.01.2020

According to the German government's blockchain strategy, blockchain technology is one of the most talked-about innovations in the digital transformation of the economy and society: "Thanks to properties such as decentralization, reliability and anti-counterfeiting, it opens up a broad field of innovative applications and new forms of cooperation." But can blockchain technology deliver what it promises?

A joint event organized by the Kassel-Marburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the University of Kassel on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, will shed light on the opportunities and challenges. The event will start at 5:30 p.m. in Lecture Hall 3 of the Campus Center of the University of Kassel at Moritzstraße 18, 34127 Kassel. Participation is free of charge for North Hessian entrepreneurs and their employees - registration is now open.

How the new forms of cooperation - also and especially between competitors - can be designed, what role smart contracts play in this, what potential lies in Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) and whether payments will soon be made in Libra or other cryptocurrencies, are just some of the topics of the Blockchain Night of the North Hessian economy.

It will be opened by IHK President Jörg Ludwig Jordan and University President Prof. Dr. Reiner Finkeldey.

Program:

  • 17.40 to 18.15: At night, all blockchains are gray. Blockchain myths and misunderstandings // Prof. Dr. Dr. Walter Blocher and Prof. Dr. Georg von Wangenheim (Uni Kassel / Blockchain-Center.eu).
