The Department of Development Planning (with currently three units for development planning and one unit each for junior researchers and for strategic issues of personnel development and internationalization) advises the Presidential Board on all essential issues of strategic positioning and development of the university. It supports the Presidential Board in systematically linking strategic development, planning processes, control procedures and resource allocation and provides the analyses required for this purpose.

Your Responsibilities:

As the University Development Officer, you will become familiar with the entire spectrum of structural, equipment, capacity, and development planning for individual disciplines. You will accompany the development of structural plans and work on the creation of strategic concepts for the further development of the university. Preparing decisions of the university management and supporting the implementation of development measures by means of suitable control instruments are also part of your field of activity, as is the supervision of central university committees. In the first months of your employment, you will be accompanied and supported by systematic mentoring as you familiarize yourself with your area of responsibility. In addition, you will be given the opportunity to visit other areas of the central university administration and to gain further qualifications for your job by participating in internal and external training events. In the case of positive development and after successful further qualification, a review of your classification will take place after two years in connection with the assumption of a unit for development planning.

Your profile:

You have successfully completed your doctorate following academic university studies, possibly already worked as a postdoc or outside a university and are in a phase of professional orientation. The position is also suitable for newcomers to science management following a doctorate or postdoc phase. A job in science management is an interesting opportunity for professional development for you. You are interested in current developments in the higher education and science system and the associated planning and management issues. You have a strong analytical mind, can familiarize yourself quickly and thoroughly with new topics, and have very good conceptual skills. In addition, you are a team player, able to work under pressure, flexible and have strong communication skills. A very good ability to express yourself in writing and a very good command of English are essential. If you have already gained some experience in coordinating activities or in academic self-administration, this is an advantage for the position to be filled, as is a proven interest in scientific and technical issues. You should also be willing to gain further professional qualifications by participating in relevant further training measures as part of your work.
