Research Assistant (m/f/d), EG 13 TV-H - Steel and Composite Structure

Full-time position. This is a fixed term-position of 20 months (§ 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG).

Tasks:

A research position is available for the project "Pagoda System for earthquake protection of slender structures". This project is cooperation with the Institute of Engineering Mechanics (IEM), Beijing, China. The successful candidate shall develop the control for such systems under seismic actions, design a specimen to be tested on a shaking table at the IEM, and perform numerical simulations on buildings for possible applications of the Pagoda System.

Requirements:

A Master in structural engineering or equivalent, experience with numerical simulation of structures, especially under earthquakes, knowledge about structural control under seismic action, programming experience.

Advanced English (communication, writing)

Familiarity with high-level research in earthquake engineering in China and knowledge of the Chinese language are desired.
