Digital Conference "Didactics | Games | Science" at the University of Kassel

Under the title Didactics | Games | Science, the conference at the University of Kassel builds a bridge between the three domains that give the conference its title.
In addition to the presentation of various interdisciplinary research projects and groups, as well as game-related mediation projects for young people, the areas of science and didactics will of course also be focused on in two panels. On the one hand, it will be discussed how decidedly scientific approaches can be made fruitful for Game Studies, and on the other hand, how in the area of didactics the mediation of competencies can play a role in schools as well as in the area of universities. Both current titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 and classics such as the Anno series will be examined; innovative technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR) will be reflected upon in terms of their potential; but it will also be discussed why board games are a part of Game Studies and need to be researched in depth.
The program will be supplemented by contributions from students of the Games Klasse of the Kunsthochschule Kassel, who will provide insights into current game developments. In addition, Sabine Saeidy-Nory from game - Verband der deutschen Games-Branche, scientist Finja Walsdorff (AG Medien), game developer and professor of game design Sabiha Ghellal and other guests will talk about diversity in games, research, journalism and the games industry.
In addition, the gather.town platform offers the opportunity for casual exchange and gaming on Friday evenings.

The conference will take place on 17.09 from 10:00 am to 7:45 pm and on 18.09 from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm
