Opening of the exhibition "Wunderkammer modern - 50 Jahre Universität Kassel" at the Stadtmuseum Kassel

The exhibition "Wunderkammer modern. 50 years - 50 objects" is extended and can now be seen at the Stadtmuseum Kassel until April 18, 2022.

How much university is in the city? On which objects can this be experienced? What stories do concrete, wood, glue, compost, metal, plastic, solar panels, water, wool or lemons tell about half a century of research at Kassel University?
With an unusual presentation as a guest at the Stadtmuseum, the innovative and aesthetic dimension of scientific processes becomes vivid on the three levels of the museum tower. Exciting questions of the researchers are visualized. What role does a Kassel worm play in Netflix, what do researchers have in mind with the computer game Assasins Creed, and how is a patented tie created? What complex knowledge is disseminated illustratively and in what form? Numerous award winners contribute to the multifaceted show.
The University of Kassel was founded at a location that can look back on a long tradition of scientific institutions and research networks. Since 1971, half a century of history has now been added.
The exhibition is digitally accompanied by reports from contemporary witnesses and students, who also provide insights into the many enigmatic terms, acronyms and exciting aspects of research.
Immerse yourself in the stories and participatory moments in the exhibition, which can be experienced up close or virtually, and learn in which areas the university is active in a trend-setting way and sustainably shapes the urban landscape. Unterneustadt - what was designed there? Fulda Bridge - how does it hold the tension? What do Kassel citizens have to do with the hot roofs of the university? Learn to look at your familiar city with different eyes.

The exhibition opening is not open to the public. The special exhibition "Wunderkammer modern - 50 Jahre Universität Kassel" can be seen from October 15 to January 9 at the Stadtmuseum.
