International Symposium on the Occasion of the Exhibition "Suicide - Let's Talk About It!"

"Suicide - Let's talk about it!" is the title and mission of the current special exhibition and accompanying program at the Museum für Sepulkralkultur. In the weeks and months since the opening on September 10, 2021, numerous visitors* have been able to experience the exhibition and events. Together with experts and artists, they have filled the prevailing shameful and fearful silence in society around suicide and suicidal experiences with open conversations, lectures and readings.

At the final symposium in cooperation with the University of Kassel, three panels will focus on different topics: "Suicide", "Relatives" and "Society" and will be accompanied by lectures of international scientists and panelists from different professional groups and voluntary work. The audience is invited not only to be audience, but also to be interlocutor and to actively participate in all discussions of the day.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, we have decided to hold the symposium online. Besides the disadvantages of a lack of physical presence, however, the virtual format offers the opportunity to provide access to a more numerous and international audience.
