Concert Uni Choir: The current semester program "Gloria

Cantiamo, the choir of the University of Kassel presents its current semester program. Two sacred works for choir and instruments by Antonio Vivaldi and the young, contemporary Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo can be heard.

The music is set in the tension between pompous and expressive Baroque music in the Gloria on the one hand and flat, spherical, Nordic sounds in the Sunrise Mass (2008) on the other. The Sunrise Mass adheres to the Latin text, interpreting it in the compositional layout as a metaphysical path from heaven to earth.

Vivaldi wrote his Gloria for the schoolgirls in an orphanage where he spent many years of dedicated service
