Minimal Musical Festival: Concert with "ORK" at the Institute of Music

The 11th International Minimal Music Festival will take place in Kassel on the second and third weekends in September. At the end, the French duo ORK will play in the concert hall of the Institute of Music and present their extraordinary, danceable minimal music fusion performance to the audience.

Ork is a hybrid formation that has existed since 2013. The duo Olivier Maurel and Samuel Klein creates its own universe, which is also visually staged: on stage, the two musicians work with a kind of electronic "puppet machine". The instruments, each equipped with sensors, form an orchestral sound image. Klein and Maurel move in their performance between electro, minimal music, jazz and rock.

Samuel Klein (*1982) was trained at the Music Academy International (MAI) in Nancy as well as at the Conservatory in Strasbourg. Early on he worked as a rock drummer. With Fanfare en Petard and Lyre k Temps he toured in France, in Europe as well as worldwide. Together with Olivier Maurel, he developed the duo Ork in 2013. Through complex technical arrangements, they aim to create a bridge between man and machine.

Olivier Maurel (*1983) was trained in the conservatories of Rennes, St. Malo and Strasbourg. Since the beginning of his work as a musician
he has been searching for new musical paths that would involve other arts and new media. He is a member of the ensembles Linea and Les Percussions de Strasbourg. He has worked with artists and ensembles such as Christine Ott, Raphelson and Auditive Connexion, with whom he has participated in many concerts and festivals.

In 2013, with his friend Samuel Klein, he founded ORK, a 'machine' to fuse rock, jazz, electronic music and contemporary sounds.
