Lecture: The role of the VdK in social policy and social law

How can we currently describe "the role of the VdK in social policy and social law"? VdK President Verena Bentele will speak about this at the University of Kassel on May 28, 2019. Invited to this discussion is the Research Association for Social Law and Social Policy of the University of Applied Sciences Fulda and the University of Kassel.

The VdK is the largest social association in Germany with almost 1.9 million members. It represents social policy interests and represents its members before the social courts. VdK President Verena Bentele and Head of Legal Protection Jörg Ungerer will discuss the role and development of the VdK with representatives of political science and law, who are represented by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schroeder and Prof. Dr. Felix Welti from the University of Kassel.

Verena Bentele has been a member of the state board of the VdK Bavaria social association since 2015. As a four-time world champion and twelve-time Paralympic winner in biathlon and cross-country skiing, she made disabled sports popular in Germany. In January 2014, she was appointed Federal Government Commissioner for the Interests of Persons with Disabilities. She relinquished the post on May 9, 2018. On May 16, 2018, she was elected president of Germany's largest social association at the VdK Federal Association Congress in Berlin.
