The UNI:Lokal is a central and open venue and exhibition space in Kassel's city center.

With this offer in Kassel's pedestrian zone, the University of Kassel aims to strengthen its connection to the city's society. With a varied program of exhibitions and events, citizens are invited to enter into a dialogue about current research topics and to discuss aspects. At UNI:Lokal, prospective students can also find out about the wide range of courses on offer at any time. With the SDG+ Lab, the regional sustainability laboratory of UniKasselTranfer has moved into the rooms as the main player.

New exhibition | MUT zur Zukunft - How new materials and technologies are making the architecture of tomorrow more sustainable

April 26 to June 15, 2024 at UNI:Lokal

The exhibition presents innovative materials and technologies that have been developed in recent years at the University of Kassel or are currently being researched. The developments provide answers to current and future challenges in the construction industry such as climate change, population growth, energy transition and resource scarcity.
Sustainable, resource-conserving, recycled and recyclable materials are used. Digital technologies for the design or production of buildings are creating new possibilities. Traditional construction methods are also being taken up and transferred to the future.
The spectrum ranges from concrete façades as electricity-producing solar collectors to robotic winding processes for material-efficient lightweight components made of veneer wood and an endless thread made of willow wood for architecture, construction, product design and vehicle construction.
