Name wanted for sustainability center at the University of Kassel

A scientific center on "Sustainable Development and Transformations" is being established at the University of Kassel - it is unique in Germany and is to have an international impact. Up to 17 new professorships will teach and conduct research on the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, and new courses of study will be created. Now the university is looking for a name for the center. Anyone may make suggestions.

To be internationally understandable, the name should be in English and convey the core message of "sustainable" or "sustainability". An abbreviation of the name should be concise and not cause any unwanted misunderstandings. Proposals can be submitted by July 16 at presse@uni-kassel.de. All participants will receive products from the university anniversary collection as a gift.

The Senate had decided to establish the center last June. The first professorships have already been advertised. The Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations comprise 17 objectives that are to serve the securing of sustainable development on an ecological, social and economic level worldwide. At the University of Kassel, more than 120 disciplines are already involved with sustainability issues in various ways.
