On October 1, Dr. Mohamed Benyoucef took up a Heisenberg Professorship in Experimental Physics and became Head of the Quantum Nano-Photonics Faculty. He completed his doctorate at the University of Bristol (United Kingdom) and habilitated in Kassel. He later worked as head of the Nano-Optics Group at the INA, Kassel, as well as at the IFW Dresden, the University of Stuttgart and the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart. He was a visiting scientist at ETH Zurich (Switzerland) and USTC China. His research focuses on quantum optics and nanophotonics, including the fabrication and characterization of nano/microcavities in combination with integrated quantum emitters and hybrid quantum systems for quantum technological applications. He acts as Principal Investigator of several projects in the field of quantum technology, including the LOEWE project SMolBits.
