Civic University - Jordaens and Grimm as focal points

The Civic University Kassel starts the summer semester 2013 with a new program. Two of the current focal points are courses on the Brothers Grimm and on Dutch painting of the "Golden Age".

Whether after work or alongside work - mental training keeps you fit. The University of Kassel creates good conditions for this. With three different study formats - guest auditor program, study programs with certificate, compact courses - the offer of the civic university Kassel enables an individually configurable educational offer for post- or part-time learning.

The new program for the summer semester has now been published and offers, on the one hand, with the guest auditor program, attendance of courses across all disciplines, from A as in English studies to Z as in zoology. Selected lectures and seminars of the regular teaching program of the University of Kassel can be attended within the framework of this offer according to personal expectations and requirements.

On the other hand, the certified study programs in the fields of history or art history with a pre-selection of two seminars and one lecture per semester provide an intensive insight into a selected field of research. This offer is designed for a maximum of 20 students.

In addition, the compact courses, which take place on two fixed dates, allow a socially relevant field of research to be discussed and debated in a small study group. This summer, the focus of the content is inspired by this year's Grimm anniversary as well as by the large art exhibition of the Museumslandschaft Hessen-Kassel "Jordaens and the Ancient World".

The study program Art History "The Golden Age in Holland and Flanders" takes the opportunity of the Jordaens exhibition and an international symposium taking place at the same time as well as a lecture series of the Kunsthochschule Kassel with many experts to focus specifically on the works of the so-called Golden Age.

In the compact course Brothers Grimm, the Grimm researcher Prof. Dr. Holger Ehrhardt explains the life, work and impact of the Brothers Grimm and addresses current research questions.

The summer semester starts on April 15. An information session on the Citizens' University will be held on April 11 at 11:00 a.m. in Mönchebergstraße 7, room 3219. Detailed information on the new program and a registration form can also be found on our website www.buergeruni.uni-kassel.de. The printed brochure has been available since the beginning of March in the bookstore at Bebelplatz and in the bookstore unibuch.
