Information evening: With work experience to the university

The event on June 6 is aimed at prospective students who are not in possession of an Abitur or a Fachhochschulreife, but who can demonstrate a professional qualification for study.A professional qualification is given by further training as a master craftsman / master craftswoman or by training with several years of work experience. While master craftsmen and master craftswomen already have direct access to Hessian universities, those with completed vocational training and work experience have the opportunity to take a so-called university entrance examination.

As a result of new regulations in the "Ordinance on the Access of Vocationally Qualified Students to Universities in the State of Hessen," university entrance examinations for prospective students with completed vocational training and work experience are now distributed among all Hessian universities according to fields of study . Since 2012, the University of Kassel has been responsible for the university entrance examination for the fields of linguistics and cultural studies, pedagogy and for courses of study for the teaching profession at elementary schools, at secondary modern schools and at special schools. Prospective students of other subjects must take the university entrance examination at the Hessian university responsible for them in order to begin their studies at the University of Kassel.

The event "Wege ins Studium" (Ways to Study), which is aimed at those with vocational qualifications, addresses questions about this change in responsibility, among other things, and provides participants with an overview of prerequisites, registration deadlines, and the like. The event also offers important information to prospective students who do not (yet) meet these criteria, as it also shows ways to catch up on the required qualifications and thus gain access to the university.
