Prof. Dr. Hänlein confirmed as Vice President

"I thank you for the trust you have placed in me," Prof. Hänlein said after the election. "I look forward to continuing to shape the future of the university in the coming years together with the other members of the presidential board and the university's committees." University President Prof. Dr. Rolf-Dieter Postlep congratulated his deputy immediately after the election. "In the past three years, Prof. Hänlein has rendered outstanding services, in particular, to the further development of our range of courses and to the improvement of study conditions," said Prof. Postlep. "The positive development the university has taken in this area in recent years was most recently demonstrated by the results of the Bachelor Survey, which attested to noticeable improvements in our university in many areas. It must be remembered that all of this has happened under the auspices of growing student numbers and limited resources. It is also largely thanks to Prof. Hänlein that the discussion on the promotion of young scientists led constructively to a new, comprehensive concept, which the university adopted in 2012."

Prof. Hänlein is the contact person in the Presidential Board for the further development of studies and teaching, the social and socio-scientific departments as well as for the promotion of young scientists. The term of office lasts three years and begins at
April 1. In addition to Hänlein, the Executive Board includes University President Prof. Dr. Rolf-Dieter Postlep, Vice President Prof. Dr. Claudia Brinker-von der Heyde, Vice President Prof. Dr. Martin Lawerenz and Chancellor Dr. Robert Kuhn.

Prof. Hänlein (born 1959), a lawyer, has been Vice President of the University of Kassel since 2011. Since 2003, he has headed the Department of Business, Labor and Social Law in the Faculty of Business and Economics. Prof. Hänlein was vice dean of the department from 2004 to 2007 and subsequently dean until 2010.

The Extended Senate consists of the members and deputy members of the Senate.
