DAAD Prize for student from Kassel

Naureen Ahmed already knew that Kassel was a good place to study from her brother - like her, he comes from Bangladesh and studied mechanical engineering in Kassel before earning his doctorate. "My brother raved to me so much about the university and the city that I also decided to come to Kassel for my master's after completing my bachelor's in Bangladesh."

She decided to do her master's in Electrical Communications Engineering - department head Prof. Dr. Hartmut Hillmer was so taken with her performance that he not only offered her a position as a research associate and assistant after her successful graduation, but also nominated her for the DAAD award for outstanding achievements by foreign students.

Despite a purely English-language course of study, she acquired an excellent knowledge of German and was committed to her fellow students in Department 16, becoming involved socially and culturally in a variety of ways.

The DAAD Prize for Outstanding Achievement by Foreign Students is awarded annually. At the suggestion of a teacher, special academic achievements and remarkable social or intercultural commitment at the University of Kassel are honored. The prize is endowed with 1,000 euros.
