EXIST-Gründerstipendium supports startup "CoroVision

Since December 1, the three-member founding team CoroVision has been funded with EXIST grants totaling 122,000 euros for the further development of an innovative measurement system.

The idea arose during a doctoral thesis at the Department of Electrical Engineering/Computer Science.  The three founders Nils Kewitz, Dominik Rund and Tobias Raulf are developing an automated measurement system for the optical detection of corona discharges. Currently, the market lacks a suitable metrological solution to localize these discharges, which are an increasing problem in the development of electronic components and systems. In the CoroVision project, an automated measurement system is being developed that offers the user new possibilities for detection in the form of visual localization of corona discharges.

It is too seldom that innovative ideas from science are developed commercially. The EXIST program of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy supports students, graduates and scientists who want to realize their start-up idea. More than 50 innovative technology-oriented or knowledge-based start-up projects from the University of Kassel have already been funded in this way.

The funding includes personnel, material and coaching resources. The teams are supported by UNIKAT, the start-up consultancy of the University of Kassel. The "CoroVision" team is also supported by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Marcus Ziegler, head of the "Electrical Machines and Drives" department, as a mentor.
