World's leading conference on the networking of everyday life

The 19th IEEE PerCom 2021 meeting will be held March 22-26, completely digital due to the Corona pandemic. It is the world's leading scientific meeting in this field. It is the first time that this conference is held in Hesse (respectively organized by a Hessian institution). Among other things, contributions will deal with the possibilities of tracking in public spaces and the requirements for robust, attack-proof digital infrastructure of cities. More than 300 participants have already registered.

Hesse's Digital Minister Prof. Dr. Kristina Sinemus will give the opening speech. "The increasing digitization of all areas of life can offer relief and support in many cases - provided that the benefits of the technology serve the well-being of people and are accepted accordingly," Sinemus said. "The state of Hesse has, among others, the Center for Responsible Digitalization ZEVEDI and the Council for Digital Ethics, two institutions that focus on legal and ethical issues of digitalization. In addition, the Distr@l program promotes digital innovations in Hessen, such as the LAMA project of the University of Kassel, which enables AI-supported sovereign living in old age."

"Secure, privacy-compliant and socially useful design of IT systems have long been the subject of intensive research at our university," added University of Kassel President Prof. Dr. Reiner Finkeldey. "Therefore, this conference is located exactly right - even if it can only be virtual this year."
