New appointment of Kathrin Albers

With her appointment, Prof. Albers succeeds Prof. Thomas Meyer-Hermann, who held the professorship at the Kunsthochschule from 2000 to 2019. Professors Kathrin Albers and Martina Bramkamp will head the professorship for animation in the future.

Already during her studies of "Illustration and Communication Design" at HAW Hamburg, Prof. Albers specialized in the field of "Stop Frame Animation", in which she has been active as an independent animator ever since. Since 2002, she has been part of the team at the stop motion animation studio Stoptrick in Hamburg, producing her own short films, trailers and commissioned works.

Albers held a professorship in Digital Animation at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), School of Art, Design and Media, in Singapore from 2012 to 2018. Her research at NTU focused on the digital extension of analog animation and the work of artist Ronald Searle. These topics continue to be part of Prof. Alber's work, in addition to her own narrative film projects.
