The University Society Kassel e.V. mourns the death of Klaus Tümmler

Mr. Tümmler, retired director of the school district, was a member of the board of the Kassel University Association from 1975 to 2009 and a member of the Kassel Comprehensive University working group as early as 1969. With his constructive and conscientious manner and his will to stand by the young university, he became a reliable partner of the then Gesamthochschule and later University of Kassel. His concern was the promotion of science, young scientists and the international relations of the University of Kassel.

In addition to his work on the board, he represented the Hochschulbund and Universitätsgesellschaft Kassel e.V. as a member of the jury for the Georg Forster Award (1986-2012), as a member of the board of trustees of the Otto Braun Fund (1990-2012), and as a member of the board of trustees of the International House/Guest House of the University (1999-2012).

He was instrumental in providing the impetus to endow the Georg Forster Prize of the Kassel University Association in 1984, which was then awarded for the first time in 1987 and is still awarded today.
