Young founders shape the future

Under the patronage of the Hessian Minister of Science and Culture, Angela Dorn, the initiative discovers and promotes entrepreneurial potential at Hessen's universities:
"The diverse ideas reflect the innovative content of Hessen's universities. In this way, they also help to strengthen the state of Hessen as a location for innovation. This is more important than ever in these times: The Corona pandemic is also having an impact on research and development. Especially now, we must stand by young developers from the university and also support them in a possible step toward entrepreneurial independence. I am confident that, with the help of the 'Hessen Ideen Stipendium', their ideas will grow into a successful business start-up, and I wish the scholarship holders an exciting six months and every success."
 
The program in the Hessen Ideen Stipendium
In addition to financial support, the teams receive support in an accelerator program on their six-month journey through the Hessian start-up cosmos. This includes a variety of workshops on relevant topics such as financing, marketing and pitching, led by experts. The special feature of the program is the great exchange between the funded teams and the networking within the Hessian startup ecosystem.
 
 
Ideas from the University of Kassel
Two ideas from the University of Kassel are funded in the program. The CleverRider app supports riders in recording their daily training, reflecting on it and preparing for successful competition participation in a targeted manner. In doing so, it is possible to record the training data objectively. This is done by a sensor-based data acquisition. This data is evaluated by an artificial intelligence and compared with other riders. Furthermore, it automatically gives individual training recommendations and makes statements about the expected competition performance. The "Netzwerk Strohbau Professionals" wants to bring the eco-innovation "straw bale construction" as a complete package to modern timber construction companies. In the process, energy-efficient, CO2-saving and completely recyclable buildings are created from the regionally available natural materials of wood, straw and clay. By qualifying partner companies, they pool resources for central marketing and develop a professional supply structure with the aim of establishing the construction method on the market.

Selection of scholarship recipients
Students and other members of higher education institutions in Hesse who are seeking support for the design and implementation of their knowledge-based start-up idea are eligible to apply. A commission evaluates the idea sketches and selects the ideas after a pitch.
 
Initiative Hessen Ideen
Hessen Ideen is an initiative of the State of Hessen, Hessen's universities and Hessen's companies. With the three pillars Hessen Ideas Competition, Hessen Ideas Scholarship and Hessen Ideas University Network, entrepreneurial ideas are discovered and promoted at the universities. The universities' start-up support departments work hand in hand and have joined forces to form a network in order to offer start-ups the widest possible range of support services. The scholarship has been implemented since 2018 and has become a fixed component of start-up support at Hessian universities. The initiative is coordinated by the University of Kassel in cooperation with the Technical University of Darmstadt.
 
Interested parties can contact the start-up advisory services at their university. The application deadline for the funding round starting April 1, 2022 is January 25, 2022.
