Within the framework of the business plan competition promotion Nordhessen, the SURAP team won the environmental prize, donated by the company sera. Subsequently, they received the 2nd place in the category "Innovative Foundation" within the same competition. The business plan competition promotion Nordhessen is associated with an extensive coaching and consulting offer on the topics of strategy development and financing and this year awarded the best business models for the 22nd time.

Two weeks later, the SURAP team presented its contribution to sustainable development to the jury at the pitch day of the "Goethe Startups for Future SDG Contest" - and won 3rd place. A total of 64 startups applied for the SDG Contest, twelve of which were invited to the subsequent bootcamp. The five best teams took part in the final pitch day followed by an awards ceremony at Goethe University in Frankfurt.

SURAP, the Sustainable Resource Application, is a software for assessing the life-cycle environmental impact of buildings. In this way, SURAP is intended to set the course for resource- and climate-friendly building in practice as well as in research. The idea and a first prototype of the "Sustainable Resource Application" were developed in the context of Dr.-Ing. Husam Sameer's doctoral thesis at the Center for Environmental Systems Research (CESR).  Prof. Dr. Bringezu, speaker of the CESR and professor for Sustainable Resource Management (FB 14: Civil and Environmental Engineering) supports the start-up project as a mentor.

Starting in February 2021, the founding team received funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy for more than one year as part of the EXIST start-up grant. So far, the EXIST funding program has already supported around 50 projects at the University of Kassel. The teams are supervised by UNIKAT, the start-up consultancy of the University of Kassel. UNIKAT accompanies young scientists, employees, students and alumni of the University of Kassel with a wide range of support services in the phase from idea generation to start-up.
