A nucleus for research on the documenta

The academic team of the documenta Institute now has its own spatial nucleus at the University of Kassel. Just in time for the start of documenta 15, the holders of the three documenta professorships moved into new offices at the Holländischer Platz campus; they had already begun research and teaching beforehand.

On the northern extension of the Holländischer Platz campus, the three documenta professorships now have a common location.

The President of the University of Kassel, Prof. Dr. Ute Clement, wished you a good start to the semester and the documenta summer. "We are all delighted that you have started your research into the most important show of contemporary art with momentum and that you have now also moved into your new offices in close proximity to each other. This offers the best conditions for a close exchange until the planned documenta institute has found its own location," she said.

In the past year, the University of Kassel had filled three professorships that will contribute to the documenta Institute. The institute will be an independent non-university research institution that will conduct research on documenta and international exhibitions. It is being established in cooperation between the state of Hesse, the city of Kassel, documenta und Museum Fridericianum gGmbH and the University of Kassel with the Kunsthochschule. The founding chairman is Prof. Dr. Heinz Bude.

Events related to the documenta

The professors are the curator and art and media scholar Dr. Mi You (subject area "Art and Economies"), the literature and cultural studies scholar Dr. Liliana Gómez (subject area "Art and Society") and the art historian Dr. Felix Vogel (subject area "Art and Knowledge").

In the coming months, the scholars are planning a whole series of events on the documenta that are also aimed at the general public. Prof. Heinz Bude's "Talks on Contemporary Art" have already begun at the TRACES research station on Lutherplatz in Kassel (every Tuesday, 6 p.m.). All dates are in the appointment calendar on the Website uni-kassel.de.
