Future Forum and New Lab: Digitalization and AI in Production Work

Digitalization is challenging small and medium-sized enterprises and their employees in production and the skilled trades. The Hessian Future Center for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence in Production Work (ZuKIPro) supports small and medium-sized enterprises in the digital transformation and offers practice-oriented consulting, qualification and testing opportunities for digital technologies. At the Future Forum on July 19, a new laboratory will also be opened at the University of Kassel, where digitization and AI applications can be vividly demonstrated and tested.

In the new laboratory of the Human-Machine-Systems Engineering department, the cooperation between humans and robots is being researched and tested in practice.

Small and medium-sized companies can take advantage of the services offered by the Future Center, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, free of charge. The special feature: In addition to a laboratory visit, companies can also bring mobile applications directly onto the company premises and test them there. Companies can identify and analyze their own challenges. Various consulting services and innovative teaching and learning concepts for qualification in digitization and artificial intelligence will also be offered.

At the Future Forum on July 19, 2022, from 10 a.m. to approximately 2 p.m. in the Gießhaus of Kassel University, ZuKIPro will present its offerings with impulses from research, best-practice examples from Hessian companies and a panel discussion. After a welcome address by University President Prof. Dr. Ute Clement, the Hessian Minister for Digital Strategy and Development, Prof. Dr. Kristina Sinemus, will open the new laboratory at the Department of Human-Machine Systems Engineering of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ludger Schmidt. It can be visited by the participants afterwards. In addition, the ZuKIPro team of experts will answer questions about digitization and AI in individual consultation hours. The strategy of the Future Center is to establish a large Hesse-wide network with partners from local, regional and national organizations, initiatives and associations. In particular, the combination of technological, occupational science and socio-political expertise and experience in transfer distinguishes this unique network in Hesse. Through the supra-regional project partners from NRW, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland, close networking with other future centers is also being sought in order to exploit synergies and continuously develop the offering.
