Federal Government Appoints Guido Bünstorf to Expert Commission on Research and Innovation

The two new commission members see themselves honored by their appointment and at the same time confronted with an extremely demanding task, which they want to help solve with their knowledge and experience:

"Research and innovation policy is facing extraordinary challenges in view of the major crises our country is going through. Research and innovation are seen as key levers for meeting these challenges, yet there is no blueprint for how policymakers should go about it," Bünstorf notes. Their task, according to the new members, is therefore also to provide the German government with guidance for a dynamic F&I policy in times of crisis.

Uwe Cantner, longstanding chairman of the EFI and professor of economics and microeconomics at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, welcomes the new commission members and looks forward to working with them: "With Guido Bünstorf and Friederike Welter, we have gained two excellent experts. Their expertise will not only enrich our scientific work, but also provide new, implementation-oriented impulses, especially for the exchange with politics."

Guido Bünstorf heads the Department of Economic Policy, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Kassel. There, he is also a member of the board of the International Center for Higher Education Research (INCHER) and spokesman for the Graduate School in Economic Behavior and Governance.
