Summer School on extractivism

The seminars are designed by a diverse group of guest lecturers. They propose a variety of thematic dialogue spaces that allow participants to explore the cultural, aesthetic, and political implications of the extractive economy through discursive and artistic laboratories from interdisciplinary perspectives of the arts, humanities, cultural studies, and social sciences.

Participants in the summer school were selected through a rigorous application process, resulting in a group of 35, including 15 DAAD fellows, activists, researchers, and artists who reflect on the ecological diversity of Latin America and the long (post-)colonial experience of resource extraction in their practice.

Two sessions will be held for the public; they will take place in the MAMA Doc Space, the space dedicated to the development of the Más Arte Más Acción program during documenta fifteen. On Friday, September 9, outstanding lecturers of the Summer School such as Liliana Gómez, Carolina Caycedo, Paco Gomez Nadal and Ximena Gonzales will speak in a forum entitled "Ecosystems: art and artivism". On Wednesday, September 14, Elizabeth DeLoughrey, Alejandra Rojas and Liliana Gómez will meet for a discussion forum titled: "Thinking with Bodies of Water."
