25 years "Friends of Kassel University Sports e.V."

The association provides financial support for university sports at the University of Kassel, primarily for new acquisitions. In the last two years alone, the association has supported university sports at the university in northern Hesse with more than 60,000 euros. Projects include a grant for the construction of the boathouse on the Auedamm and the purchase of several boats. The association has also purchased a minibus for trips to excursions and competitions.

Students at the Institute for Sports and Sports Science (IfSS) also benefit from the work of the Friends of Kassel University Sports: for example, several  events at the institute enjoy their support. These include the annual graduation ceremony and the awarding of the Dietrich Martin Prize for the best sports exam. In addition, the institute's meetings and conferences are supported with grants.

The association currently has 345 members. Through membership in the Landessportbund Hessen, members also enjoy insurance coverage during sporting activities. The membership fee is 50 Euro per year. Compared to guests who want to participate in university sports, club members have the advantage that they can register a little earlier at the beginning of the semester and thus have a better chance of getting a place in courses.

A large part of the membership is recruited from graduates of the University of Kassel, who would like to take advantage of the university sports program even after they have finished their studies.

The Friends of Kassel University Sports are also involved in the "Transfer and Application Center for Sports in Kassel" (TASK). The cooperation project between the university and the city of Kassel deals with specific sports science issues and develops  practical concepts.
