Top book prize for "Achtung Zensur!" by Nikola Roßbach

Roßbach is a literary scholar at the University of Kassel. "Nikola Roßbach enables a new critical view of the meaning of censorship, freedom of expression and their restrictions and thus makes a convincing contribution to the necessary discourse, without which a democratic society cannot do," according to the jury's statement.

The prize will be presented in Berlin on May 10, 2019. It is one of the most important non-fiction prizes in the German-speaking world, is endowed with 10,000 euros and is awarded annually by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation for an outstanding new publication that critically examines current socio-political issues, provides trend-setting food for thought and debate, and makes its contents comprehensible to a broad audience.
