Postdoc-UNIKAT-Fellowship for Kerstin Zimmer

In her doctoral thesis, the young scientist focused on the orientation behavior of visitors to Bergpark Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe.  Using an innovative synthesis of methods, the movement patterns of over 500 people were tracked via GPS loggers and individually recorded via questionnaires. The methodical intersection in a geo-information system thus led for the first time to the possibility of objectively evaluating the orientation ability in open space.

The method used for this purpose is to be further developed within the framework of the UNIKAT Fellowship and adapted to other defined (open) spaces and their specific demands (e.g. zoological gardens, national parks or exhibitions). Kerstin Zimmer will work out further possible applications within the framework of the Fellowship. She will be supported by the product development & innovation consultancy of Science Park Kassel GmbH.

The University of Kassel announces the Postdoc-UNIKAT-Fellowship, sponsored by B. Braun Melsungen AG, for outstanding application-oriented research for the further development of research results. The fellowship supports young scientists in the further development of their research results for a period of 12 months after completing their doctorate. The results should form the basis for business start-ups, marketing activities or cooperations with companies or organizations.

Applications for the Postdoc-UNIKAT-Fellowship starting April 1, 2020 are open from now until October 15, 2019. Postdocs who have completed their PhD by April 1, 2020 and whose PhD was completed no longer than 24 months ago are eligible to apply.
