Startup Zazter receives EXIST founder grant

The startup Zazter by Dogan Ates, Alexander Gutheil and Marvin Feldmeier, two graduates of the University of Kassel and one IT specialist, receives the EXIST-Gründerstipendium for the implementation of a business idea. The scholarship is offered by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. As of February 1, 2019, the founding team will receive 129,000 euros in funding for one year.

So far, 47 projects at the University of Kassel have been funded by the EXIST grant. The funding includes personnel, material and coaching resources. The teams are supported by UNIKAT, the start-up consultancy of the University of Kassel. The Zazter founding team is also supported by Prof. Dr. Christian Klein, Head of the Finance Department, as a mentor.

The idea behind the start-up project: to develop the first payment service for groups. Using a new type of payment processing, costs will be able to be shared among several people in real time as they are incurred. "I think this is an extremely innovative idea. In my view, Zazter has the potential to create a buzz in the fintech market," said Prof. Dr. Klein, head of the Department of Corporate Finance at the Institute of Business Administration. Zazter, he said, is a solution for everyday situations that everyone is familiar with: a joint birthday present, a bachelor party or costs in a shared apartment. By processing through Zazter, no person would have to pay in advance anymore, he said.

During the grant period, the Zazter project team will be based at the University of Kassel's incubator in Gottschalkstraße. An incubator is a facility that supports start-up teams in the pre-start-up phase by providing consulting services and office space. Currently, three other project teams are represented in the incubator: the Hessen-Ideen-Stipendiaten Kasseler Bunkerpilz, the former EXIST project team HydroNeo and the current EXIST-funded project Straffr. Those interested in founding a company can also take advantage of the open start-up consultation hours at the University of Kassel on Fridays from 10:00 to 12:00.
