Double award: Paper by Kassel economist receives two prestigious awards

The paper "Digital M&A, digital innovation, and firm performance: an empirical investigation" by André Hanelt, Sebastian Firk, Björn Hildebrandt and Lutz M. Kolbe received two awards. Hanelt, one of the authors, is head of the Management of Digital Transformation department at the Institute of Business Administration in the Department of Economics at the University of Kassel. The paper, which appeared in the European Journal of Information Systems, uses a longitudinal empirical analysis to investigate whether and to what extent established companies from traditional sectors benefit when they acquire digital companies. 

The researchers received the prestigious Stafford Beer Medal 2022 from the Operational Research Society in London for their work. The jury considered the paper to be an exemplary application of scientific methods in the field of business information systems.

In addition, the paper was named "Best Publication of 2021" by the Senior Scholars Consortium of the AIS at the International Conference on Information Systems 2022 in Copenhagen.
