Inken Baller was the first appointed university lecturer in the field of architecture, urban and landscape planning. Initially known for the bold residential buildings she realized with her husband Hinrich Baller, she stands above all for innovative building construction methods, especially in the conversion of existing buildings, until today continue to be topical for resource-saving construction and use of materials in architecture. With Brigitte Häntsch and Marie-Therese Harnoncourt-Fuchs she discusses the current challenges of sustainable building and the contribution of constructive issues.

FUSION Retrospectives

The Reform University Kassel celebrates its 50th anniversary. Time for a balance and an outlook also in architecture, urban and landscape planning within the lecture series FUSION.

Where we come from and what lasting accents our department has set is the focus of the FUSION "Retrospectives" in the winter semester 2021/22. Pioneers who were central to the formation of the department profile present positions and contributions in a retrospective of their work at the university and beyond. In conversation with guests and colleagues, they reflect on the significance of architecture, urban and landscape planning at a reform university and in a society undergoing rapid change.
