Teacher training: Explainer videos in history classes - assessment, use and production

Various studies confirm that students are consuming more and more explanatory videos to cope with school requirements. This trend has been reinforced by the school closures of the past two years. Thus, there is an increasing overlap of classic areas of informal as well as formal education. This development has been and must continue to be responded to by incorporating the "new media" into school practice and didactic research. Nevertheless, there are currently few to no didactic handouts dealing with the use of explainer videos in history classes.
Therefore, the focus of the training is on the use of explanatory videos in history lessons. Here, the following two focal points will continue to be set:

1. There will be a theoretical examination of already existing explanatory videos on platforms such as YouTube. This makes it possible to evaluate the videos criterion-guided regarding their application possibilities and suitability for the history instruction.

The self-production of such videos by teachers or students will be considered. In this context, a tool will be presented and tested which seems to be suitable for the production.
