16th Mathematics Day Pupils at upper secondary level

Faculty 10 and the Institute of Mathematics are once again organizing the Day of Mathematics on 16 February. In exciting lectures you will learn a lot of things you didn't know about mathematics and everything you always wanted to know about it:

• How do computers calculate with formulas?
• Mathematical models and algorithms to support modern therapies in ophthalmology
• Studying mathematics in Kassel
• Coloring problems - from maps to communication networks
• Comparing infinities
• Cryptography: The science of secret messages
• Big sound in a small format - The mathematics behind MP3 compression
• Prime numbers
• Mathematics in computer game design
• Math lab to join in and marvel at

The events are primarily aimed at upper secondary school students and their teachers, but are open to all interested parties (registration required). Admission is free.
The Math Researchers' Day will also take place on the same day with over one hundred primary school pupils invited.

The events will take place at the University of Kassel in Oberzwehren, Heinrich-Plett-Straße 40.(to the address on Google map)
The nearest streetcar stops are Korbacher Staße (lines 3 and 7) or Heinrich-Plett-Straße (lines 5 and 6).
