Financial expert Klein appointed to Bayer AG's Sustainability Advisory Council

According to the company's management, the independent external Sustainability Advisory Board will advise the Board of Management of Bayer AG and relevant other functions within the company on all sustainability issues.

Christian Klein, head of the Sustainable Finance Department at the University of Kassel, was initially appointed to the advisory board for two years. For him, he said, the issues of transparency and monitoring the company's development are particularly important. "A pharmaceutical company like Bayer has to face the accompanying criticism of greenwashing by setting up a sustainability advisory board. That's why it's very important to me that the effect of the measures that are intended to contribute to further development in sustainability can be objectively measured and communicated with maximum transparency," Klein emphasizes.

Prof. Dr. Christian Klein has been Professor of Sustainable Finance at the University of Kassel since 2013. He habilitated at the University of Hohenheim in 2012. Klein is, among other things, a member of the American as well as the European Finance Association and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board "Forum Nachhaltige Geldanlage".

Klein is, among other things, co-founder of the scientific platform Sustainable Finance Deutschland and contributes his expertise to the Sustainable Finance Advisory Board of the German Federal Government. He also sits on several scientific advisory boards of various sustainable finance organizations.

In addition to Prof. Klein, Bayer AG has appointed eight other leading global specialists to the Sustainability Advisory Board.
