Two apprentices from the university are among the best

Natalie Finis already knew in 8th grade after a three-week school internship at the municipality in Zierenberg that she enjoyed office work in the administration. So in 2017, she began her training as an administrative assistant at the University of Kassel. In June 2020, the 21-year-old from Niestetal completed the training as the best in her year class. Since the certificate presentation had to be cancelled due to corona, the Head of Department for Personnel and Organization Günter Karl and Training Manager Iris Happel presented her certificate. Finis also received a certificate from the administrative seminar and a voucher from Susanne Rohde (head of the university reference office).

"The training at the university is very versatile. I've virtually commuted through the entire university: the Human Resources and Organization Department, Finance Department, Studies and Teaching or the University Pay Office. You get to know the structures of the university and a lot of interesting people at the same time," says Finis. Following her apprenticeship, she was offered a temporary position in the university's reference office.

Electronics technician tops the class at the Kassel-Marburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce

René Lehmann completed his training as an electronics technician for industrial engineering in June 2020 as the best in his year at the Kassel-Marburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK). He received a trophy in honor of his very good performance, which the IHK sent to him by mail. Lehmann was given a temporary job after completing his training in the electrical workshop at the university's workshops.

The 27-year-old had shortened his training and brought forward the final examination. Lehmann had originally planned to take up a technical degree, but then decided to train at the University of Kassel. "I find the job of an electronics technician very exciting and important. Digitalization makes it a discipline that is very versatile and complex. The job is always needed and I can help people with it," says Lehmann. He also enjoys tinkering with technical equipment in his free time. He says the training will enable him to start his career quickly.

Iris Happel congratulates Finis and Lehmann on their achievements: "Our apprentices have made very good use of their time in training, learned a lot and achieved great results. I'm pleased that we were able to give them a good foundation for their future careers at the university."

The University of Kassel is again looking for motivated and committed trainees in both professions for 2021. The application deadline is Oct. 31, 2020.
