First-hand knowledge: Science Night on 17. 11.

The Covid 19 pandemic highlights the need for scientific information and assessments. Trust in science has increased, but it has also become apparent that scientific processes are not always comprehensible to the public. For more transparency and direct exchange with citizens, Kassel scientists will present their research at the first digital Science Night on November 17, 2020, starting at 6 pm.

This year's Science Night invites you not only to listen and watch, but also to participate. The free hands-on package brings experiments into the living room at home, and at Mozilla Hubs, citizens and scientists meet in virtual space. The variety of topics ranges from molecular mirror images to emotional online purchasing decisions and cooperative learning. In the Myth vs. Science duel, viewers are invited to guess along and members of the CoLab association explain how much (in)truth there is in some myths, while Science Bridge e.V. CRISPRs a unicorn.

Everyone who enjoys science and is interested in current research at the University of Kassel is cordially invited.

On Tuesday, November 17, 2020, 6 p.m.

Digital at Zoom and Mozilla Hubs.

The event is the final event of the further qualification program "Communication School" of the Graduate Academy of the University of Kassel and is funded by the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art as part of the study structure program. All presenting young scientists participated in the program and dedicated one week to the topic of science communication in order to improve their skills in this area. As the final event, Science Night offers the opportunity to try out new formats and present their own research to the public. The project strengthens the young scientists to become communicators themselves in order to promote public trust in science.
