Welcome to the University of Kassel Prof. Dr. Susanne Dreßler!

Susanne Dreßler has been Professor of Music Education at the University of Kassel since March 1, 2022. She studied secondary school teaching (music, German), elementary music education and piano pedagogy at the Leipzig University of Music and Drama. She completed her doctorate at the University of Bremen in 2010 with a thesis on school development with choir and wind classes at all-day schools. This was followed by a traineeship and teaching position at a grammar school in Giessen, teaching and research activities at the universities of Kassel, Bielefeld and Siegen, as well as further training as a music therapist. Since 2015, she has worked at the European University of Flensburg (junior and full professor), where she was head of the Music Department.
As a music educator, questions of musical-aesthetic education are important to her: various music education situations (e.g. in lessons, ensembles, learning workshops) are designed and reflected in a practical way and researched in basic theoretical work and qualitative-empirical studies.
