Welcome to the University of Kassel Prof. Dr. Philip Hogh!

Dr. Philip Hogh has been Head of the Department of Practical Philosophy since April. He completed his doctorate at Goethe University Frankfurt in 2013 with a thesis on Adorno's philosophy of language and habilitated in Oldenburg in 2021 with a thesis on ethical materialism. Before coming to Kassel, he was a research assistant in Oldenburg and a visiting professor in Giessen. His work in Kassel will focus on the reconceptualization of interdisciplinary materialism following early critical theory, with a particular focus on questions of climate change and the relationship between human and non-human nature. He would like to use his numerous international research stays (e.g. at Columbia University, NY) and collaborations (e.g. with colleagues at Bogazici Üniversitesi Istanbul) to further internationalize research and teaching in Kassel philosophy.
