Lecture Series 50+1 Years of the Institute of Social Work

The Institute of Social Work at the University of Kassel is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary this semester with a public lecture series.

50 years of the Institute for Social Work are half a century of social work in the city of Kassel and the region of North Hesse. A multitude of institutions arose from the activity of this institute, which are an integral part of the social, societal and cultural life of Kassel. Examples are the cultural center Schlachthof, the institutions of social psychiatry, the work with migrants, the intensive work with the elderly in the city of Kassel and a lively culture of supervision, counseling and psychoanalysis.

The lecture series offers all interested parties an option to get to know the current discourses and research topics of the institute and to discuss them with the students and lecturers. The next date of the lecture, which takes place fortnightly in the Campus Center, Lecture Hall 6, Moritzstraße 18, is November 15 at 6:00 pm. Professor Dr. Ulrike Kissmann will speak about: "Polarizing Markers of Belonging in Violence and Conflict: On the Hermeneutic Video Analysis of Interactions".
