Top place for civil engineering in CHE ranking - Further good results

The University of Kassel is one of the best universities in Germany for studying civil engineering. This is the result of the CHE ranking of bachelor's degree programs published today (7. 5.). Other subjects at the university in northern Hesse also scored well to very well.

According to the survey, students give the bachelor's program in civil engineering top marks exclusively. The weighty criteria of support, studyability and general study situation are rated particularly well. In the last ranking of this program three years ago, the civil engineering program at the University of Kassel was already the best in Germany. In the meantime, the CHE no longer produces a ranking in the narrower sense, but lets the students' evaluations speak for themselves.

The University of Kassel also receives consistently good to very good ratings from its students in the Bachelor's subjects Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics. The subjects of electrical engineering, computer science and psychology scored solidly in the student ratings.

In addition to the student ratings, statistical data was also included. Here, the University of Kassel is convincing in all subjects in the points "Contact with professional practice" and "Support at the beginning of studies". Compared to previous surveys, the university in northern Hesse has improved in the criterion of third-party funding, where it now consistently ranks in the midfield.

"We welcome it when our departments participate in the CHE ranking with their study programs," said Vice President Prof. Dr. René Matzdorf. "It grants those responsible for the study programs an objective view from the outside and, for better or worse, provides pointers for quality development. Of course, it is particularly gratifying when the results are as positive as this year's."

The Dean of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Middendorf, added: "We were once again very pleased with the result and it confirms our work. It shows that our students accept and value the consistent improvements in teaching and research."

More than 25,000 people study at the University of Kassel, including more than 3,100 in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. It is one of two universities in Hesse that - among other disciplines - focus on engineering courses.

The CHE ranking of the weekly newspaper "Die Zeit" and the "Center for Higher Education Development (CHE)" is Germany's largest university ranking. It provides information about the attractiveness and quality of study programs. Each year, specific study programs are evaluated.
