Master Architecture

In the 4 semesters of the Master's program, knowledge and skills oriented to current issues from research and practice are imparted on the basis of in-depth fundamental knowledge, which enables students to practice their profession in all fields of planning in a constructional-spatial or strategic-conceptual context and to conduct their own scientific research and forms the prerequisite for "chamber eligibility".

A special goal is the formation of an individual study profile with orientation to the diverse requirements of the methodically and content-wise differentiated professional fields.

The architecture program is interdisciplinary with the two other departmental programs in urban and regional planning and landscape planning & Landscape Architecture

Department 06 I ASL: To the department profile

Courses offered I Master's specializations

The deepening of planning and design competence in complex and also interdisciplinary contexts forms the core of the curriculum throughout the entire course of study. Teaching content and forms are based on the unity of teaching and research and impart methodological and systems competence as well as strategy competence beyond specialist knowledge.

Master's specialization ST - Urban Planning / Urban Design

Focus: The development of skills for in-depth spatial analysis and the development of urban design competence with the inclusion of architectural and landscape planning issues.

Specific learning objectives: Design competence in the area of new planning, renewal and supplementation of building-spatial structures, reflection in the discourse of urban planning theories and models.

Master's specialization DR - Design Research

Focus: planning and design strategies for architectural order and design, construction (development and innovation), and design methodology. Possible design parameters include:

  • experimental-innovative issues of form finding and construction,
  • systematic form development processes based on digital techniques (generative design),
  • theory-based design

Master's degree UPB - Environmentally Conscious Design and Construction

Focus: planning and design strategies oriented towards sustainability (development and innovation).

Specific learning objective: a profound understanding of the functional and design dimensions of environmentally conscious planning at all levels, as well as the aesthetic dimensions of building physics and climatic requirements for buildings and their surroundings.

Master's Degree BW | Construction Industry and Project Development | ARCHITECTURE CITY ECOCONOMY

Focus:
Planning and design strategies with high design standards and a focus on political economy towards a socio-ecological transformation in the construction industry.

Specific learning objective:
a profound understanding of economic interrelationships in the construction industry between land policy, ownership structures, resource use and planning instruments, as well as knowledge and application of social and at the same time ecological project development strategies in different scales - from housing and public building to urban planning, from exhibition architecture to design of public space.
