New course of study: International language and cultural mediation

Those who are interested in imparting knowledge but do not want to commit themselves to a teaching degree will find practice-oriented didactic-pedagogical training in the Bachelor's program "International Language and Cultural Mediation" at the University of Kassel starting in the winter semester 2022/23. The program combines didactic-pedagogical studies with studies in French language and culture and another language. The special feature: Students can optionally earn three degrees under the auspices of the renowned Franco-German University (DFH).

One focus is on the French language.

Graduates are excellently prepared for further studies at all domestic and foreign universities or for the domestic and foreign job market due to their complete international and intercultural education. The bachelor's degree enables students to start their careers directly: in education, for example, in adult education, in science and university management, in the cultural sector with an international orientation such as museums, international organizations such as NGOs, or in communications.

In addition to the didactic-pedagogical part, Bachelor students choose French and one other language: Spanish, English or German. As a rule, students complete a stay abroad at a university in a French- or Spanish-speaking country in the fifth semester. The University of Kassel offers students many choices through a wide network of partnerships.

Within the Bachelor's program, students with a compulsory French and an elective English or German have the opportunity to earn a total of three degrees. In partnership with the University of Angers, France, graduates receive degrees from both countries and universities: The Bachelor's degree from the University of Kassel and two Licence diplomas from the University of Angers - one each for German and English. This is combined with a one-year stay in Angers in the 5th and 6th semester. This option is called KulturA (for Kassel and Angers) and is sponsored by the German-French University (DFH). The latter also awards graduates with a DFH certificate at the end of this international degree program.

After graduating with a bachelor's degree - with or without a binational option - students can enter the workforce or continue their academic training in teaching or a related master's program.
