Internship

The examination regulations require a 10-week career-oriented internship(390 hours). You can complete this internship either full or part time, in one piece or in two parts. Make sure that each part of the internship is at least 150 hours, otherwise it will not be eligible for credit. Longer internships are of course creditable without any problems.
You cannot complete a mandatory internship during a semester off. More detailed information about the internship can be found here

Attention. In order to fulfill the requirements of the Approbation Regulations or if you are aiming for the Master's degree in "Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy" with Approbation, the internship must be divided into a four-week orientation internship and a six-week professional qualifying activity (BQT I). The orientation internship can be completed from the 1st semester onwards, the professional qualifying activity only from at least 60 credits. It is also possible to complete both together in a 10-week block after the 4th semester or at least 60 credits. If the internships are taken individually, the orientation internship must be taken first. In addition, BQT I must be completed in a health care facility that employs full-time psychotherapists, psychological psychotherapists, or child and adolescent psychotherapists . You do not have to be supervised directly by a licensed psychologist, it is sufficient if the person has a degree in psychology(note: medical psychotherapists, psychiatrists or specialists in psychotherapy etc. do not count). When registering for the internship, please indicate whether it is your first partial internship, i.e. the OrPra, or the second, i.e. the BQT I. For the BQT I, please send a current performance overview showing that you have already completed 60 credits. If you want to complete both internships in one long overall internship, the conditions of the BQT I apply, i.e. proof of 60 ECTS.

If you are not seeking a license to practice, you can complete the internship in any psychological field of activity, under the supervision of a person with completed academic training in psychology (diploma, or M.Sc. in psychology), after you have achieved at least 60 ECTS. Make sure that each internship part is at least 240 hours, otherwise it will not be eligible for credit. Longer internships are of course creditable without any problems.
You cannot complete a required internship during a semester off.

The internship should be completed at an institution that employs full-time a person with completed academic training in psychology (diploma, B.Sc. or M.Sc. in psychology) or a person with a comparable degree who will provide guidance and internship supervision.

If you are aiming for the new approbable Master Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy in Kassel and have participated in the postgraduate training, the career-oriented internship must also meet the requirements of the PsychThApprO (see the item "General information on the career-oriented internship according to examination regulations 2021). If you have already completed your internship, have the certificates Nachbescheinigung Or-Pra and Nachbescheinigung BQT I confirm that psychological psychotherapists were employed there at the time. If you have not yet completed the internship, please use these forms Form Or-Pra and Form BQT I for certification. Be sure to complete the licensure-compliant internship within your bachelor's degree program (i.e., complete it before you graduate from your bachelor's degree program).

PO 2021

For the non-clinical internship, please find your own internship that meets the requirements of the examination regulations. The internship should be completed at an institution that employs a full-time person with a degree in psychology (Diplom, B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Psychology) or a person with a comparable degree who is responsible for supervision and internship support. Students generally look for suitable internships themselves. You can find a list of non-clinical internships here. However, you can also look for your own internships in Germany and abroad. The independent search for your internship enables you to carry out the internship according to your interests and should prepare you for your later job search.

For the orientation internship, please also look for an internship on your own that meets the requirements for OrPra. Please clarify this in advance with the institution and the person responsible for the internship module at .

For the BQT-I , you can also independently look for an internship that meets the requirements for the BQT-I. In this case, we must conclude a contract for the duration of the internship which states that the requirements of the licensing regulations are met. You should therefore point this out to the institution in advance. If you are unsure whether the requirements are met there, send the BQT-I internship certificate to the institution, where the relevant points are listed and the institution can confirm whether the points are met.

Otherwise, we have a number of cooperating institutions in the region where you can request a BQT-I internship. You can find them here (the list is constantly being expanded). There it is guaranteed that the above-mentioned framework conditions are met.

PO 2014

The internship should be completed at an institution that employs a full-time person with a degree in psychology (Diploma, B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Psychology) or a person with a comparable degree who will provide guidance and supervise the internship.

However, you can also look for your own internships in Germany and abroad. The independent search for your internship enables you to carry out the internship according to your interests and should prepare you for your later job search.

If you have taken part in the postgraduate course and are interested in the new Master's in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, please note the above information on the PO 2021 on the orientation internship and BQT I.

You can also complete an internship in a scientific context. In this case, it is best to contact the relevant staff members.
The research internship can be completed during the lecture-free period as well as during the lecture period, as a full-time or part-time internship.
You will make all these arrangements directly with the supervising person.
After you have both come to an agreement, the supervising person must submit an informal application to the Examination Committee in which your tasks are clearly noted. This is to give you the broadest possible insight into the field of research.
It is your responsibility to register with the module supervisor of the internship (Geraldine Jung, praktikum.psychologie[at]uni-kassel[dot]de).

Research internships are generally not eligible for the orientation internship and BQT-I.

Before starting the internship, the position must be approved by the person in charge of the module. Please send an email to praktikum.psychologie[at]uni-kassel[dot]de with the following information:

• Name of institution, department/area if applicable,
• Name and qualification of the supervising person,
• The period during which the internship is to take place
• The degree program in which you are enrolled,
• The version of the examination regulations according to which you are studying (e.g. PO 2021) 
• Your current semester
• Your matriculation number

Upon completion of the internship, please submit the following documents electronically pdf to the internship module supervisor(praktikum.psychologie[at]uni-kassel[dot]de) at :

• An internship certificate from the internship provider
  (duration and type of activities )
  and
• an internship report based on the internship questionnaire (length: 6 - 8 pages (3 pages for a partial internship). Please make sure that the questionnaire and the certificate are filled out correctly (e.g. indicate the weekly working time in hours or the total amount of hours).

The documents will then normally be processed within 2-3 weeks and posted to your transcript of records

An internship abroad is only possible if you are studying in the non-clinical branch, as otherwise the requirements of the PsychThApprO are not fulfilled.
