Topic clusters and fields of action

Students and employees are invited to contribute to the university's sustainability process with topic-related suggestions for improvement and ideas. The gradual sustainable development of the university will take place along topic clusters. Environmentally relevant fields of action have been grouped into four clusters, each of which is to be regarded as a university development area:

How can we involve students and employees in the process? How do we want to communicate?

The goal is to encourage all university members to participate in order to increase the transparency of the structures and activities in the area of sustainability and, in the medium term, to be able to take up, review and implement everyone's ideas and suggestions for improvement.

How do we want to shape our campus life?

The goal is to increase biodiversity and to create an infrastructure that on the one hand increases the quality of stay and on the other hand makes it more attractive to switch to mobility alternatives such as cycling. In addition, it should be made possible for all university members to be able to obtain regional and organically produced food on campus.

How do we want to work and do business in the future?

The aim is to anchor sustainability as a cross-sectional task in all operational processes. This includes, for example, optimization measures in the relevant departments and the observance of ecological criteria in order to identify any environmental impact on the various protected assets.

How do we want to shape our energy supply? How can we respond to the climate crisis?

The aim is to identify further measures, in addition to the structural-technical measures already implemented in recent years, to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption, as well as to conserve resources. We are also raising awareness of energy-saving behavior in order to achieve climate neutrality at the university in the long term through climate protection measures.
