Co-financing of further qualification

Funding is to be provided for further qualification events for young academics, which are planned, organised and implemented in a decentralised manner by doctoral programmes, competence centres or scientific centres.

Directors of competence centres and scientific centres of the University of Kassel and speakers of doctoral programmes are eligible to apply. Doctoral programmes include doctoral courses, doctoral programmes, graduate schools and graduate colleges that meet the following requirements:

  1. Range of further qualification events available to all participants of the programme or centre (colloquia do not count)
  2. Joint supervision of doctoral candidates by university lecturers involved in the doctoral programme
  3. Regulated admission procedure and clearly regulated membership
  • The event must facilitate the further qualification or career planning of young academics of the University of Kassel.
  • The (learning) objective of the event follows academic criteria and is clearly defined. The applicant explains the technical requirement for this learning objective.
  • The content of the event is specified in bullet points.
  • The target group of the event must primarily be young academics from the University of Kassel (>50%).
  • If the group is delineated, this must be explained (e.g. special requirements of international doctoral candidates or methodology workshop only for social sciences or only for postdocs).
  • External speakers of events attributed to the Kassel Graduate Programme are selected according to the quality assurance criteria enclosed.
  • The minimum number of participants for workshops is eight persons – for coaching sessions in small groups six persons.
  • The financing plan is coherent. The approved funds can be used for fees including travel expenses for external speakers and for equipment (e.g. material and technology). Funds cannot be used for staff and assistant costs for the organisation and supervision of the event, nor for meal costs.
  • The event is evaluated.
  • The application is submitted in time.

The Executive Board of the Graduate Academy shall decide on the allocation of funding twice per year.

The deadlines for applications are:

1 November of a respective year.
