After studying German studies and Protestant Theology in Heidelberg, he earned his doctor’s degree in German linguistics with a thesis on experienced and discursive authenticity. He then worked for two years at an agency for communications in Hamburg. Since 2020, he has been working at the Volkswagen Foundation in Hanover as a program director for philosophy, theology, religious studies, and media and communication studies. He guides the funding initiative " Original – isn’t it? New Options for the Humanities and Cultural Studies" and the module Science Communication.
