Selection and booking of events

The core studies are divided into modules.  Themodule examination regulations or subject examination regulations valid for you (including any associated amendment regulations) specify which modules these are for your course of study.

All event announcements (e.g. of teaching research projects, project seminars, seminars and lectures) of the core studies can be found semester-related in the online event directory of eCampus under the tab "Education and Social Sciences Core Studies". There you can select the desired semester and module and then get an overview of the courses offered. When viewing the individual event announcement, you will receive extensive information.

Our team of student advisors can help you with questions about the documentation process in the core study program.
You can find more informationat here.
There are different registration procedures. As a rule, enrollment takes place via eCampus. The respective registration procedure for a course can be found in its detailed view in the course directory. The most common registration procedures are

  • Registration and allocation of places via a central Prios procedure in eCampus
Places are allocated by the ITS. If you have difficulties with the Prios procedure, please check whether the role of the core study program (for L1, L2, L3) or the role of vocational education (for L4) or business education (for L4) is activated after your student login. This role must be set so that you can register for the core study program via Prios.
  • For students who wish to release an allocated place after completing the Prios procedure or who still need a place, there is the procedure
"Deregister + re-register + move up" in eCampus. Places you have returned will be made available to your fellow students.
  • With the so-called simple voucher procedure in eCampus, registration / deregistration takes place via the functions register  / deregister . There are no uniform deadlines for this.
Admissions / rejections are decentralized, e.g. by departments.
  • Registration is rarely done by e-mail.
  • You can deregister from courses after the online registration procedure has expired in eCampus via the tab My functions → My courses. You can find more detailed instructions here.

Please refrain from contacting the lecturer and administrative staff to allocate places before all registration procedures for a course have been completed. If you would still like a place after completing all event-related booking procedures, please contact the respective teacher at . If your request has not been resolved after this, please contact Ms. Nickel and Ms. Reef(Kommission.Kernstudium[at]uni-kassel[dot]de).

In the Prios procedure, you can select within a module several courses with different priorities (high, medium, low) . You must log in to eCampus with your login in order to register. Then check whether the role "Partial study program core studies" (for the study programs L1, L2, L3) or "Vocational education" (for the study programs BA / MA L4) or "Business education" (for the study programs BA / MA L4) is activated. You can only register for courses in the core study program using the Prios procedure if the role that applies to you is set correctly.

The deadlines for the various registration procedures can be found in the course catalog for each course. The technical procedure is described in the ITS handbook explained.

Please note the specified deadline within which priorities can be assigned. When you enrol within this period is not relevant for admission. At the end of this period, places will be allocated in a central lottery procedure, if possible according to the highest priority given. You will receive an e-mail from ITS to your university account notifying you of (non-)admission to the course you have booked.

Please do not contact the lecturer or administrative staff regarding the allocation of places before all the registration procedures listed for a course have been completed. If you would still like a place in the core curriculum after completing all course-related registration procedures , please contact the relevant lecturer at . If your request has not been resolved, please contact Ms. Nickel and Ms. Reef(Kommission.Kernstudium[at]uni-kassel[dot]de).

Following the Prios procedure, there is usually the phase "deregistration + re-registration + moving up" for
- deregistration from allocated but not required places
- moving up to free places
- applying for a waiting list place for courses that are currently full.
When registering via the waiting list, please regularly check the current status of your booking in your timetable for the core study program for the semester in question in eCampus - after your student login - as you will not receive an email from ITS to your uk account regarding (non-)admission via the waiting list. If a "WL" is listed for the course in your overview, you have a place on the waiting list. If the event is marked "ZU", you are admitted. Information about the waiting list can be found here.

Please do not contact the teacher or administrative staff regarding the allocation of places before completing all the registration procedures listed for an event. If you would still like a place in the core study program after completing all event-related registration procedures , please contact the respective lecturer at . If your request has not been resolved, please contact Ms. Nickel and Ms. Reef(Kommission.Kernstudium[at]uni-kassel[dot]de).

If the "Deregistration + re-registration + moving up" procedure is currently not available for a course in the core study program, you can apply for a place on the waiting list.

These waiting list places are allocated in the order in which they are applied for when places become available on the course.

Please check the current status of your booking in your timetable for the core course for the semester in question regularly in eCampus - after your student login - as you will not receive an email from ITS to your uk account regarding (non-)admission via a waiting list place you have applied for. In your semester plan, a place on the waiting list is marked with "WL" for the respective course offered. Admission is indicated with a "ZU".

You can find explanations about the waiting list here.

Please do not contact the teacher or administrative staff regarding the allocation of places before completing all the registration procedures listed for a course. If you would still like a place in the core curriculum after completing all course-related registration procedures , please contact the respective lecturer. If you do not receive the required place after your request, please contact Ms. Nickel and Ms. Reef(Kommission.Kernstudium[at]uni-kassel[dot]de) to clarify your request.

Eligible for admission to the "Preferential Admission Procedure for Students in the Teaching Profession" are exclusively students who meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • chronic illness or disability in the sense of § 2 Para. 1 SGB IX (German Social Code)
  • child under 12 years of age to be cared for
  • Pregnancy with delivery date in the event period of the semester
  • care of a close relative

The application for  L1,L2,L3 students takes place with Ms. Seuring (Department 01) and for  L4 students with Ms. Molina Fuentes (Department 07).

Detailed information about the preferred dial-in procedure for students in the teaching program  can be found under this link.

Check the following points in case of difficulties:

  1. After the student login
    - for L1, L2, L3 students, is the role "Core Studies"
    - for L4 students, is the role "Vocational Education" or "Business Education"
activated? The following is an example of the role.
Correct setting of this role is a prerequisite for successful enrollment. If this role is not activated, change the role accordingly.
If it is not possible to log in as well as change the role, try the following: Clear your internet browser cookies and try again.
  2. Is occupancy possible at the current time ? Check the event-related information on voucher deadlines in the event directory.
  3. Is there a booking procedure for the course via the online course directory? Or, for example, does the instructor want registration by mail?
  4.  Address any questions about the registration process to our student advising team.

  5. In rare cases, if clarification is not possible here, students may contact ITS Support at: ttslsf[at]hrz.uni-kassel[dot]de. Please note the following:

    • Use your uk-account for your mail to ITS,
list the course number(s) related to your concern and
attach a screenshot to your mail if an error message is displayed.

Information on this and other rights and obligations can be found here.

2) Clarification of individual concerns

For the clarification of individual cases concerning student services, please use the student application to the Module Examination Board, which must be completed and submitted to your Examination Office for Core Studies.

The form relates to the following concerns

  • failure to register on time
  • Withdrawal from registered performance
  • Deviation from the planned combination of courses in the joint program
  • Registration for additional services
  • Participation in a module without fulfilling the formal participation requirement.

If you are ill on the examination date, obtain a doctor's certificate. Please send this to the examination office,  digitally by e-mail, scanned in PDF format (no photos).
Further necessary information for the examination office are
- first and name
- matriculation number
- module in the subprogram core studies
- lecturer
- event number and title of the course.
The examination office will then enter a withdrawal with a certificate from the exam in question in the electronic exam administration.
Please note that teachers cannot enter withdrawals with a certificate there.
However, please also inform the teacher or his/her secretary about your illness.

The registration for second examination dates or repeat dates is also done via e-campus.

The respective registration deadlines for 2nd examination dates or repeat dates can be found in the details of the course announcement in the LSF course catalog. If you miss this deadline, a subsequent registration is only possible (by application) via the examination office.

Notification of failure of a module examination that can still be repeated is made by announcing the examination result through the electronic examination management system.

If you do not pass a module examination or a course achievement for the subprogram Core Studies, then the lecturer or their secretary will record a fail (NB) for this attempted examination.

If you fail a module exam in the Core Studies subprogram, you have a total of two retakes in each module to pass that exam. If a module examination performance is definitively failed (i.e. after 3 attempts), please contact the examination office immediately for advice regarding your study options.

You can repeat failed examinations in the subprogram Core Studies in the corresponding module as often as you wish.

If you have registered for an examination / course work  via eCampus but do not take the examination, this is a failed attempt due to non-attendance (NE). If a failed attempt is entered, it will be counted towards the maximum number of possible attempts (3 attempts for module examinations). Then you only have the possibility to request a withdrawal from the registered performance from the instructor afterwards (see also question 38). Within the registration deadline (standard deadline 25.01. of a year for the winter semester and standard deadline 30.06. of a year for the summer semester) you can deregister online in eCampus from a registered course or module examination.

Students of the L1, L2 and L3 degree programs should contact the Core Studies Examination Office (Department 01) regarding core studies.

Further

Each matriculation number at the University of Kassel is assigned only once and is therefore unique.

If you submit only your first name and last name for inquiries, it could be that there are several enrollees to whom this information also applies. The resulting necessary queries will lead to a delay in the clarification of your request.

Please use the university e-mail address (ukxxxxxx@student.uni-kassel.de) for your inquiries.

Study profiles in teacher training programs offer students the opportunity to focus on a specific subject area within the regular study program on a voluntary and self-responsible basis. Extensive information on study profiles in teacher training programs is availablehere https://www.uni-kassel.de/einrichtung/zlb/beratung-information-zum-lehramtsstudium/studienprofile-im-lehramtsstudium  .

Student employees do not assign course seats.
In addition, they do not advise on the First State Examination.
